The Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama is now participating in the Debtor Electronic Bankruptcy Noticing Program (DeBN). This means that debtors in an active bankruptcy case can receive notices in their case. Benefits of this program are 1) Debtors receive court-generated notices and orders (e.g., meeting of creditors notice, objection notices, notices of hearing, orders on motions for relief from stay, discharge orders, etc.) by email the same day they are filed by the court, 2) Debtors can access emailed court notices and orders from a computer or mobile device that has an Internet connection and a free Adobe Acrobat Reader, and 3) There is no charge and no limit to the number of times emailed court notices and orders can be viewed.
In order to sign up for this program and start receiving notices electronically, debtors must fill out a participation form. The form can be found here. If you are represented by our office, you will need to bring it to our office to have one of our attorneys efile it. If you represent yourself in an active bankruptcy case, you will need to fill out the form and give it to the bankruptcy court clerk’s office for filing. If you have another attorney representing you, you will need to fill it out and give it to your attorney for filing.
More information about the program can be found here.
